4-Bet Pots OOP as the Preflop Caller | GTO Wizard

4-bet pots are often uncomfortable to play. Some of the reasons include: — A lot of chips are already in the middle early on in the hand — Ranges are tighter than the more commonly occurring spots — Any postflop mistakes are more costly due to the preflop action. But why does this happen at all? Intuitively, leading into the preflop aggressor on an Ace-high board seems suicidal, especially in a 4-bet pot where they are more likely to hold an Ace compared to when they have a wider range. The majority of King-high boards will give IP a massive range and nut advantage, as they will have top pair, top kicker and sets where we do not have any. For this reason, the solver recommends a range-check strategy for almost every single King-high board. Afterward, IP is allowed to play a range-bet strategy, splitting between 10% and 20% pot-sized bets depending on the texture.Investigating this response tells us something else about 4-bet pots; since ranges are so tight already, blocker effects are magnified much earlier than they’d usually become relevant. AQo without a heart is a pure fold, while AQo with a heart always continues. We can see that in both scenarios, the cards that generate the most folds from the OOP player are very similar, with the A♥ being the most critical card for generating flop folds. However, in our 4-bet pot, the value of holding the A♥ has over doubled.

We’ll give the strategic breakdown of all the key concepts you will need to effectively incorporate 4-betting into your own game: why it is done, the factors that change a 4-betting range, which hands to do it with and why.Having a well-constructed 4-betting range will make you a nightmare to play against at the poker table. A 4-bet is when a player makes the fourth bet/raise on any street. Since post-flop 4-betting does not happen often and this action most commonly occurs in pre-flop situations, this article will look solely at the pre-flop side of things. The most obvious reason why we 4-bet is to get value from worse holdings when we have a premium hand. By building the size of the pot with these strong hands pre-flop, we make it easier to extract more value from our opponent(s) on later streets.Since it is clear that we want to have our strongest value hands in this 4-betting range, we need to also include some bluffs to make sure that our range is balanced. This is a fundamental concept in poker and trying to be balanced with our ranges in all spots will make us a much tougher opponent to play against.

r/poker on Reddit: Confused by 4-betting strategy

Hello, I have a conceptual question. I’ve been reading Jonathan Little’s book on how to beat low stakes tournaments and cash games. I’m currently… I have a conceptual question. I’ve been reading Jonathan Little’s book on how to beat low stakes tournaments and cash games. I’m currently covering a section that explains what to do when facing a raise and a 3-bet pre-flop.If that is correct, then that leads me to my second point of confusion which is that he goes on to say that in the same betting situation against another strong range of 99+, AJs, AQo+, when you’re on the button you should never call with a hand like 99 or AQo since those hands only have about 40% equity. He instead suggests to either fold or 4-bet bluff if you think you have some fold equity. Now I’m confused since if you need to win a third of the time, why is 40% equity a bad thing? I’m not sure how much the players yet to act (small blind and big blind) play a factor in this hand, but perhaps that is why?But the reason a 4-bet bluff is recommended if you think you have fold equity is because of the times you get the villain to fold plus the pot odds you'll get if faced with a reshove, considering you'll have about 40% equity.

r/poker on Reddit: 4 bet? Yes or no?

Live 1-3. Effective stacks of $650. Hero UTG +2 raises to $20 with QQ over one limper. The next to act is a snug villain who raises to $60. Should… Posted by u/Capital_Connection13 - 5 votes and 30 commentsI think we want to 4 bet this and fold to an all in. Snug villain’s 3 bet range in these games is usually AAs-JJs, AK/AQs. And because your hand is ahead the majority of this range, a light 4 bet makes sense. You’re basically forced to call a flop cbet, going to the turn without any changes to villain’s range. So if we call then I’m looking for a favorable flop that I can check raise to better shape my opponents range and pickup the dead money when they miss withAK/AQ.For what it’s worth, snug doesn’t always mean top 3% of hands. There’s one player I consider a good but overall tight player. I started raising his 3 bets, and he often folds. I also started calling his raises and 3 bets more often and discovered his range is a lot wider than I thought.

Rule 4s Explained | myracing

Learn about Rule 4s, including why they are enforced and how much you'll be affected if the rule is put into effect in a race you've bet on. Put simply, the Tattersalls Rule 4 is a deduction made to all winning returns earned from bets placed before a non-runner has been declared. This rule only comes into effect if the withdrawal follows the official declarations having been made and only affects those who have taken their horse’s price i.e.There is no flat charge to be applied to winnings; instead, the amount depends upon the price of the non-runner, the shorter the odds, the larger the deduction. If there is more than one non-runner after you place your bet, add the deductions together to find the total deduction on your winnings. It is worth remembering that the chances of getting a deduction at the top end of this scale are slim, and it is far more common to have a 5p, 10p or 15p Rule 4 than it is to have a 50p or 60p Rule 4. Some bookmakers also choose to forgo the 5% deduction for withdrawn horses with odds of between 10/1 and 14/1 (inclusive), so make sure you check out the terms and conditions of your turf accountant!Min deposit requirement. Free Bets are paid as Bet Credits and are available for use upon settlement of bets to value of qualifying deposit. Min odds, bet and payment method exclusions apply. r/Poker_Theory on Reddit: 4-betting charts; does this example look right?

13 votes, 23 comments. Here's an example chart for how LJ should respond to a CO 3-bet in GTO. What I'm finding strange is how AJs and KJs is 4-bet… Posted by u/Extension-Stay3230 - 13 votes and 23 commentsI think you are right for the most part, but there are decent players at NL25 who do have 10+ % 3-bet ranges and 4.5+ % 4-bet ranges, meaning being too nitty 4 or 5-betting against them is giving up EV to them. Very useful to try to identify those specific players as soon as you can and act accordingly.Probably differences between sites when it comes to average reg level, PS is one of the tougher nuts to crack, GG is more rakeback shitregs from 3rd world countries with 2% 4-bet ranges, Veikkaus (Austria and Finland only afaik) is a money printer drunk shit show with low rake for an ABC TAG, no good regs from Austria or Finland grind those stakes for a living because you make more money working part time for Subway. If you don't find 4-bets with less than premium holdings OOP, you become super easy to play against and are going to be 3-bet the shit out of. Also seeing way more 3-bet folds than you would like to see when 4-betting your premiums, meaning you are the one being exploited.
